Hi can anyone help me out i am trying to find out how much shorter the short nose defender/disco diff is to the older ones . Any help would be greatful . Simon

Do you mean P38 diff?
Because they do not fit the older rover axle casings completly different. Series and RRC and Disco are all the same nose length. However they can differ internally slightly 2 pin 4 pin late or early type 10 or 24 spline, metric & imperial and are different ratios 3.5 4.7 to 1. All will interchange aslong as the ratio and splines are the same strength depends on the internals.

I have been looking for a short nose axle for my 90 rebuild , i thought they put them on 110 after 2004 and also later disco11's ???

Yes they did they were fitted instead of the salisbury on th elate TD5 and after.
P38 and later had the shorter nose diff as dis disco II if you want to fit the entire late axle thats good.
I'm sure the mounts are different but will need to check cos I can't remember off my head.
