Just a quick one. Not trawled threads as I imagine brands and types change with the times? My defender 90 shock absorbers need replacing. I don't know what to buy? I'm a roadie (no mud or green laning) and if it's possible to buy a type that doesn't feel like I'm running over a horse when I hit a pot hole, that would be nice. Cheers.

It's a 1992 but I don't know if this helps? It was done up 4 years ago. They can't get the nuts and bolts off as welded together.

I've got terrafirma's on my D1, and SWMBO has Britpart on hers ( D1 too ;) ) ....

The Britpart are the better shocker IMHO, which is almost scary ... 'specially given the price difference

+1 on what Flossie says re the turret rings anorl :)

I've endorsed britpart shocks a few times on here. Had them on my D2 and got them on my 110 now. For normal use they're absolutely fine. Get it in good fettle in standard form and enjoy it :)

I think the cheapy britpart ones I got were £11. If you do the front ones get new turret rings as well.

I’m using them on my 110. The tears have been on around 2 years with no problems, so bought the fronts to match for the rebuild.

As james says for what you need standard is best. It's what I run on my 90 these day's. Cheap enough to change as soon as you feel performance is failing.

They are fine for more than normal use as well. I had a set on the 110 which lasted for about 4 years, of both road and of road use. They developed a slight leak after returning from Morocco so they got replaced, but they handled two weeks in the dessert there without issue.
