So back on track before @Mark Piercy arrives with the train........... the whistle. @Henry_b don't suppose you have any pics of where the hoses are? :D

Before she goes to local garage, are there any other hoses it might be? Problem being local garage doesn't really work on these beasties. So if I can do a 'can you check this, this and maybe this', it might save me a 4hr journey to specialist, and possibly having to stay in hotel until it's fixed.
I'm thinking to book into specialist any way, as their books are usually weeks in advance :(

It may be better to go to the specialist gold, it could be a "go straight to it" problem. I hope so anyhow for you. ;)

I would if it wasn't such a faff to get there, stay there, come home. It's not just an hour down the road , and maybe get a lift home. Just getting there is around 4hrs. Then they would have to check if it is a same day job, or a whole day, couple of days, wait for parts days. Which would mean me staying, as trying to get someone who can give up a full day, just in case they need to give me a lift back, is damn near impossible in such a rural location. Public transport would just be a 'no'. So it ends up as a hotel stay every time. Which then means how long do I book for? What if I need 4 days and room only free for 2/3? Then there is the cost of getting to/staying near the specialist.
So booked in to see if just a hose, which will save a world of pain. Also booked in with specialist, for November!

Very good point gold, I hope it gets sorted for you ;)

Finally got to the bottom of this. Took the lad ages to find it. It's a gap where the exhaust joins but hidden by the exhaust bracket. So just waiting on parts now :D

Well hi there stranger :p, it certainly did take ages.... :) on the road again soon:D
Howdy :) She's been on the road the whole time. 2 local garages couldn't find it. One of them sent me to a lad nearby who is a Land Rover nut. He finally fitted her in, took him most of morning to find the culprit. Even that was lucky as he caught the exhaust smoke just in the light of torch,at right time.
Although he did say if he didn't know how long I had had her, and as such know any new noises, he would've said it was just turbo whine

result, and looks like you may have found someone closer to look after her who knows what he is doing

Indeed. He's a good lad. He's a word of mouth guy, which is why it took time to find him but glad I have. Weirdly enough in the same week his Mrs contacted me to do a job for her. So the gods must've been making sure I found him :D
