Evening all, just about getting there with my (new) 99 4.6 HSE. After replacing the battery, water pump, thermostat, rad, plugs ,leads, front crankshaft oil seal(wasnt leaking!!) and oil pressure sensor(was leaking!!!) shes finally usable on the road! most other things seem to be working :).
Still have a few niggles, does anyone on here know where i can get hold of a new/replacement volume knob for an alpine head unit? mine is broken and wont stay on the radio!
Also have minor issues with heated seats and windscreen(not working!!) and some central locking faults, but all in all im most impressed with the old girl!!
my other half is using her as transport to work until the weather is good enough to take her MGF to work!! ;) (another car guaranteed to not be reliable if you listen to popular opinion!!) but she loves it.
Just wanted to say that i think this forum is full of useful info, some of which i have already used!!!
Thanks to all of you who have contributed!:)

Alpine can be helpful with repairs so you might want to talk to them.
The heated seats are usually the in-seat elements. A simple repair if you can handle a soldering iron. It's been 'done' on here several times but it's basically - peel the squab cover off and repair the element where it's broken under the seat folds.
The heated screen could be the screen itself or corrosion around the scuttle where the connectors are. Worth having a nose and replacing the plenum foam that protects the pollen filters whilst you're there.

Central locking faults? No I don't think that that's ever been raised on here before.
