Newb question ( first of many no doubt ), but with the handbrake on, the Landy can be rocked backwards n forwards about 6 inchs.

I was thinking this is just general play, but would like to know if this is normal and not likely to be a larger problem down the road.

Cheers

Cheers guys, i'll remember to chock the rear wheels with some breezeblocks when she's on the small ramps so i don't involuntarily **** myself if she moves...

Joking aside, it is important to chock the wheels when jacking a Landy - because it's the transmission that is locked, rather than the wheels, it's possible for the car to roll off a jack when it has wheels off the ground.

Try doing the same thing in gear. If it still rocks, it's not the handbrake. I'm sure hundreds of people have already told you this... don't even use the handbrake. Mine stopped working completely but before I just left it in gear.
Having said all that, I'm sure someone will quote me and tell me I'm wrong to do that :D

I always lock the diff when jacking her up. That way I can lift both front or both back wheels. But if you lift a front and back wheel at the same time, It will still roll if not chocked.

alsooooooooo,

dont jack it on a slope unless the wheels are chocked. If you lift a wheel the whole thing will roll downhill. Had a nasty accident at work involving loading a rig onto a trailer on a slope... not good, big mess to 2 vehicles, trailer and rig.
