shell bearings

After doing a search and getting conflicting advice, I need to know if its possible to do the big end shell bearings on a DEFENDER 200TDI engine without removing the engine or gearbox.

Yes you can, though if they are knocking your crank will need a regrind and there is also a good chance the conrod has gone oval as well.

discovery 200 tdi have bolts that go through bell housing to ladder frame so bolts can be removed ,defender has allen bolts that can be got at without removing gearbox
