SHE RUNS!!! SHE BLOODY RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put the new alternator belt on, filled a can of petrol up, after 2 seconds of cranking it started firing then just... STARTED LIKE A NORMAL CAR! IDLES PERFECTLY AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN!!!!!!!

Its still running now outside! As soon as it fired up I ran inside to post this!

I'm so happy!!!!! A £50 spares/repairs 2.5 year non runner, RUNS AFTER A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER!!! :D:D:D

thats really great news. change that fuel filter as soon as , and think even though the engine oil looks ok, i would change that as well. but really pleased she is a runner

nice job! best of luck with that.

Though its a sign there is something wrong when you discover something amazing with your land rover the 1st thing you want to do is run in to your house and comment on the forum about it! dont worry its not a dig just an observation i did it last week myself when i was changing the water pump and new rad in my P38! i bet we have all done it at one time or other!

@1992lse - nah I don't. It's fine. Oils sat under the ground for millions of years. 2.5 Years is fine. I will change the fuel filter tho.

Oil thats sat under the ground for millions of years has not been refined and had all sorts of detergent chemicals added that decompose with time. After getting such a bargain it would be a shame to shag the engine for the sake of a few quids worth of oil and a filter:eek::eek::eek:

took the words out of my keyboard. :blabla::D

Why fix something when it ain't broke ? Why change the oil when its still fresh ?
It's what may be in the oil that matters. You would be suprised what can crawl up the intake or exhaust and make it's home in the manifolds or even the cylinders if a valve is open. Change the oil and filter for peace of mind:)

I am not getting into an argument but just reporting what I have been told by people at work.

Oil becomes acidic after two years, therefore ts good to change it just because of age.

On a happi:Der note lets see some more pics or a vid of it running!!

More pics are commin! But if you go onto my other thread you will see my cams not wanting to vid :(. I'll get it fixed soon! And I mean fixed and not replaced cos I don't wanna spend lots on a new cam when my old one works fine :)... Well will soon

Well as a matter of fact heres some I took but haven't had a chance to put up. From when I was collecting it from the farm...
