Hello All,

First time here as I have just got myself a Freelander 2. It's new and the dealer have offered me a service plan for three years. They have told me that it is the full LR service schedule. Due to an issue with my car when I picked it up (electric window not working) they offered me a 20% discount on the plan.

It's £789.74 for three services. That's including the 20% discount. I pay £24.67 per month.

Is this a good deal as I know the servicing is fairly expensive for the FL2. thanks for any advice.

Cheers

It may well be the Landrover service schedule but different things get cheked at different times. I'd asked what specifically is checked at each interval, then see how much an independent would charge for same service.

Freelander 2 service sheet. click to open, then right click to save to your phooter.

works out at just over £250 per service, don't think that's top bad, especially if it's per the LR schedule (make sure you get a ticked and stamped sheet every service)

not sure what your mileage is, but it will either be 2 majors and a minor, or 2 minors and a major, either way, not a bad price.

Thank you for the responses. The car had 8 miles on when i picked it up :), 150miles now. So i guess that’s 2 minors and a major. I didn’t think it was too bad either. I think i will go with it considering I don’t know any
reputable independent dealers. I’ve always taken my car to a main dealer, maybe a bit daft but its just what I’m comfortable with.
I just didn’t want to be paying over the odds if it was actually cheaper than what they tell me from another main dealer.

If Optimus Prime is happy then its good enough for me. J

Thanks Hippo for hose service sheets as well. Its good to see what they do (or dont) for your money.

If I were you I`d ask to see the small print in the service plan before you part with your money.
The service plan keeps you at the main dealer for 3 years, even if serviced according to schedule there are bound to be other things that go wrong - make sure that those "other things" don`t also have to be done at the dealers to keep the plan valid.
Most dealers are on thin margins (even at FL2 prices!) and service business is keeping them alive - yet manufacturers can no longer insist on franchised dealers carrying out services to validate warranties, so service plans are a good way of retaining custom.
Thats not to say they are a bad thing - but the small print on what they include and what happens if the car is fixed anywhere else during the service plan is crucial
