Serious SSSSSttutter!!!

Hi all. Returning from Bristol today via the M4 my Disco2 V8 suddenly had a serious stutter doin' 70mph. It just completely shut down for about 2 seconds, caught again, and carried as normal for about another 15 miles, stuttered again, but this time lost power completely. It did not completely stop but ticked over very roughly on the hard shoulder, as though only running on say 6 or 7. She recovered momentarily but still roughly to get me off the motorway where I stopped and had a look, but couldn't find anything untoward. I let her cool down for 15 minutes, restarted roughly, gave her a bit of a rev in the vain hope of clearing something!!!! and walerrr?? back to normal... got me home (80 miles) without further trouble.

What the F*^ck is goin' on? any help pleeeeeeease. I gotta go to Wales tomorrow..

OK guys, took the POS to the dealer to check the codes, and it showed Lamba Sensors??? much tutting and sharp intakes of breath and I think it gonna cost a bloody fortune again!!!!! could it not be the Speed sensor?
