My ill fated attempt at fixing my remote fob earlier.
Has resulted in the a chip becoming detached from the PCB in my remote. I soldered it back in place. It no longer works.
Does anyone have any advice?

Thank you.
Found a mob in London too. That does it.
Thought it was a trip to LR, for a mega bill.
I just have to send the bits. They'll repair and return. Hopefully. Fingers crossed.

I'm sorry to say that unless you used the correct type of soldering iron, there is a good chance you have destroyed the chip.

So I visited JLR dealer today.
£285+ vat for a new key.
I also have to get Rangey, recovered there as it is no longer a runner.
I also emailed, fob repair company. To see if they can help.
Or does anyone have any other fixes that may help me?
Thanks.

Ouch , that’s around £340 inc the vat

For my D3 I bought a brand new key off eBay , got the key cut and then programmed it myself with a diagnostic reader

All for £50 :D

Hope u don’t mind me saying but getting ur own reader will pay for itself very quickly , guys here will be able to advise u what one to get

Hope u get it sorted out

New keys for a p38 are only available from Huff in Germany through JLR and come ready programed to your car and will just need resyncing so you should not have to get the car to them.

You re-programmed a P38 FOB? As far as I was aware, the chip in the FOB cannot easily be re-programmed and certainly not with a diagnostic reader.

That's taking the ****. Should be about £165 including the VAT, unless inflation has rocketed in the past 2 years. try a different dealer.

Has @MrSporty had a look at your old key? He might be able to retrieve the key details and reprogram one off the Bay but if can then he's one of the few.

Not seen them at less £265 + VAT.
