series II heater

I've got one of the Smiths flat-panel type heater boxes, think it was an original off a Series 2. I remember taking it off the vehicle and then managed to sell the Landy without it!

I was looking on eBay the other day and noticed that one went for £70, so I dug mine out yesterday and checked it over - was about to list it on eBay myself but my missus has gone away and taken the camera with her! Hence I haven't listed it yet.

It's the same as this one, although mine has a single-speed motor
Landrover classic smiths square heater on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 24-Oct-08 21:36:51 BST)

Is this what you might be looking for?

(I'm in SW Wales BTW)

Thats the same one I have now - didnt pay any where near £70 though!Did the Series 2 have the option of both style of heaters (i.e the round and the flat one) or was it that the flat ones were military ones?

You can use a basic heater out of anything that will fit really. Mine had a heater from an old Mini in it....but didn't like the way it took up some of the footwell so went for one of the flat ones above.

Think you might be right about the military thing, in that perhaps the military ones all had flat panels ... but maybe flat panel heaters were also fitted to civvy models. Don't think the S2 I had had a military background, but then again I don't know if my heater was an original fitment to it either!

I'd LOVE to swap the heater for a decent late 2a grille (cross-shaped galv mesh, not the inverted T-shaped galv mesh) ... if anyone out there is reading this ... and I'm also after a usable/repairable front panel off a late 2a or 3. (SW Wales).
