Bought two axle sets of brake shoes for my 1975 swb s3, changed the rear ones in less than half hour, really pleased, hoped the fronts would be just as easy to change. Took the hub off, only to find that it looks completely different???????...wider shoes and what looks like two slave cylinders.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me or is there a way of finding out what hubs they are?

Help please

thanks for the quick reply, not quite sure what that means tho, can you point me in the direction of what to buy please....

Been looking at some images on google and have possibly come to the same conclusion, but is there a sure fire way to check?

where's your location ? might be someone from lz close to you that maybe can help
or you could get a set of series 3 109 pads and just compair um if they dont look the same take um back ;)

The ole girl is in north essex, lost her white stilletoes at the mo tho...

Have ordered some 109 shoes...hopefully they will fit and all will be well again...:)

Hi

Did you say wider shoes on front?

There were some Landies that had wide shoes (all round?). These were 6-pot Safaris, maybe 1-tonners, maybe Stage Ones. I'm guessing here, but shoes may be 3" wide. I understand that parts are getting difficult, IE - expensive.

It may be worth looking at your differential. Can the diff be pulled out the back of the axle, or does the cover pull off the front? If it has a removable front cover, then I guess you have a heavy-duty axle ...... which is probably also VERY heavy.

If you don't need a HD axle, I'd suggest changing it. I suspect that it will increase the angle of your front propshaft (gearbox is further back on 6-pot), is very heavy, and MIGHT be worth money to somebody is who running a V8 in arduous conditions. On the other hand ...... I may be talking thru my zorst. But DO look at your diff, so you know what you have got.

I have a factory parts manual for S2A. PM me if you would like copies of the pages for different axles/brakes.
