Hello chaps and chapettes.

As my Disco 2 has given up, symptoms being erratic idle, loss of indicators and central locking. I've decided to dust of the 109" IIA and try and desperately get her on the road.

I'm sort of halfway through tackling a bit of everything, brakes, cooling system, electrics (making my own loom=birdsnest) but the major hurdle will be stripping all the panels off apart from the bulkhead and taking off 4 odd decades of rust, paint, underseal and oil.

I'm not looking for a perfect finish, as she's been patched all over the place and will have a few more by the end of the week.

But what is your recommended was of removing all the crap from the chassis and bulkhead?

I havent got the means to send her to be blasted, and I plan on getting a new chassis next year.

Wire brush and scraper is too slow, and I cant be bothered to fanny around with paint stripper.

Any suggestions?

Thankyou

An angle grinder with a metal grinding wheel lightly over the rusted area is the method I always use! It will remove paint and rust quickly and easily getting down to shiny metal which is where you want to be for the chassis but for the bulkhead treat it like you would an outer body panel with care using a wire cup and drill on the rust areas and cleaned up with 80 gradeflapper wheel to remove the light scratches! Regards. Chris
