Series 3 Tank problem

I have recently purchased a series 3 . Firstly I couldnt get any fuel to the carb. I thought it was the pump and replaced it..only to find that there dosnt seem to be ant fuel coming from the tank? at least when i drop the pipe down not a drop trickles out even though I know there are a few gallons in it. I have tried to force some compressed air down and that made no diff. Will I have to take the tank off for an investigation? Also where does the breather pipe terminate at the engine end . Its just hanging there? Cheers Mark

take the drivers seat base off and remove the sender, probably find the feed is blocked with crap from the bottom of the tank - or the innards of the tank and gone rusty and it's buggered

Sorted . Thanks for your help . It was dirt in the pipe. If I hadnt asked the question I would have been underneath taking off the tank. Thanks for the advice, saved me a lot of work.
