Series 3 splitter box

My new project has another lever for a splitter box which I have encountered in old trucks and found useful. Has anyone experience of how it actually works on the 3 i.e. push, pull, down ,up? and was it standard factory extra or after market?

Hi Thanks both for the welcome and reply, my first thought was an overdrive but the previous owners family insist it was a splitter??. I suppose when running it will become apparent. My previous experience of overdrives were a short dash lever this one is almost the size of the gear lever?
