Series 3 or 2a

Think the plastic moulding on the shelf thingy on the bulkhead is one of the great leaps forward for road safety the lords of solihull introduced with the greatly changed and radically improved series 3.

But like Slob said could of had a whole body swop....or chassis swop depending on your point of view.

Only other difference I can think of is syncro on all forward gears on series 3...oh and dramatically improved heater (later renamed 'slightly warmer' under threat of legal action)

Apart from that who cares?

Tho the front grill on series 2s does look rather cool compared to the silly plastic thing on 3's....bastards!

Looking at the pics
It has a series 3 baulkhead (Bonnet and window hinges are s3)
It has a s3 Radiator
It Has a s3 dash
It has a s3 steering wheel
It has a s3 heater
It has a s3 hand brake leaver
It has a s3 rocker cover
It has s3 Door hinges
It has s3 Door mirrors
It has s3 sills
It has s3 grill

If its a 2a then its been messed about with and there doesn't look to be much 2a left.
I would be careful.

Aye but yella's not trying to sell his.
Looking at this one it would ring alarm bells caus it might just be a ringer.
But to quote MR Slob "dunt mean thurs fook all rong wiff it "
You would need to have a right good look at it.

Just because it was registered in 1970 doesn't mean to say it can't be a 3...

When I worked in the car industry (in the good old days, when there was only one registrtion per year!!!) if you bought a car in September it was the new model year.... So a car bought in Sept 1970 could actually be a 1971 model year......As the suffixes ran August 1st to July 31st

But looking at the registration it being a H plate, it would suggest it being a 1969.....

Who know's!! Maybe just had loads of mods.........

on a vaigly similar topic, my 1983 s3 has the same tail light set up as a modern dufender, even got futuristic stuff like a reversing light, hazard warning lights and a handbrake on light!! its still a s3 though!
