I had a 2.5 in my last lightweight series 3. It was a simple conversion and as good as you say.

Or the Ford Cologne 2.8 v6 with Steve Parker conversion plate. Had one in my series 2a and it went like the clappers, was very reliable and drank less fuel than the 2286 it replaced. Wish I still had it!

I've read on the interweb in a couple of places (so must be true, right ) that the 2.8 wasnt such a great conversion as it doesnt have quite as much torque as the older 3.0litre. I dont know if the 2.8's are cast iron blocks though, the 3.0 are and weigh a ton. Parts are getting more expensive as well.

The 2.8 was a slightly younger engine. It had a bit more bhp, but may as you say, have had a bit less torque. Not sure. It was a cracking motor in my 2a tho. Ran it round for 7 or more years. Happy days.

In a Series - has already been done - goes like stink too. I think the guy rolled it a couple of times.
In-line, its the same as the MPI - but betterer.

otherwise I seen one with the Nissan 3.5L turbo doozil lump in it - that pretty good too .
