Hi, i have a series 3 with a big old 4.0ish L perkins diesel in, the engine is very strong but just wont rev enough for me.

i have a 200 n/a engine and a 200tdi disco engine and box. both in good order.

has anyone fitted either of the above in there series and how much work would it be to fit the 200tdi engine and box?

the truck is on parabolics and 2" list procomps with a salisbury rear and straight 6 front axles.

Any advice much appreciated :)

the 200tdi will fit fairly easy there have been more conversion write ups on that upgrade than any other engine and vehicle combination, if its a 109" you are doing it in its harder work than if its an 88"

The 200tdi is the one to go for methinks.
Do a search for the conversion its popular and a piece of pee to do if you dont go with the turbo.
Probably wont sound as good as that old perk though.

its an 88" i was going to sell it as ive got a 300tdi disco but i just cant bring myself to do it. she is worth more to me than the ££££ involved in selling it so as i have the engine and box i thought id look into it.

thanks for the info, ile have a search and see what i can find. :)

The 'box is a different story, th'engine goes in without much hassle, but the lt77 on the 200 disco is longer than the series's 'box, and with an 88" there are issues with a really short prop shaft.
Might be better with a deffy lt77 as they have shorter bellhousings, or use the series's original 'box, plenty have warned me about nuking the series's box as it isnt deigned for the sort of torque that the 200tdi makes, but I never heard of anyone blowing a box.

Thanks for all the advice. i think ile use the series box thats in there it has overdrive and im told that this also helps a little.

You can also transplant the diff'd from the disco, as lomg as its a SWB, then you'll have similar gearing as the disco, this does put yet more load on the 'box, but seems popular.
