Series 3 Diesel

Hey I've recently bought a 1981 series 3 diesel with overdrive.

However it has recently developed a clutch problem so I replaced the slave cyclinder. Now the main gear lever won't go into any gear at all even when the engine is off. The lever seems very solid will go side to side ok but not forward and back. Seems like it's stuck out of gear. Also when's he lever is left idling you can hear a slight grinding of gears.

Anyone come across this problem before?

check all 3 jaws are in line if 1 isnt it wont go into gear

Sorry but a Complete novice here... How do I go about doing that?

try each gear first and feel it hitting the neutral detent , if the stick has come out of the jaws you will need to remove tunnel and unbolt lever assembly prise jaw into neutral and refit lever

Remove the tunnel from inside the yoke? I currently can't feel any gears. The lever is very firm!
