Series 3 Core plug Popped out!!

Hi I have a 3 series 2.25 petrol 5 barring engine.
The Core plug out the side of the block whilst running. The oil and water have mixed!!
Does anyone have any ideas apart from the head gasket? Is this a common problem?
Any advise very warmly received!!!

Series III barring injun ... And yer blowed a core plug!

How DFNL does you know if yer int gotta hinjun?

Dunt them plugs keep the wet stuff inside, coz they is in the water jacketty bit!
