in the middle of my series 3 build

its a 72' 109 converted from a petrol to a 2.5 n/a

when manouvering around the yard when turning slowly its juddering around the back end/gearbox

and when pulling away its all over the place juddering and lumping, when moving its fine

ive de-selected four wheel drive on the lever but does this sound like its stuck in 4x4? is this common on series?

or is the box/transfer shagged the box is quite noisey but can remember if they are normally?

any ideas would be great. thankyou;)

check prop ujs and if you remove hand brake drum you can check to see if rear output bearing has worn by seeing if shaft has play

Mine does this, some days much more than others. Worst is reverse - when it's at it's worse in reverse it's like the wheels are oval! 2nd gear pull is fine as you tend to slightly slip the clutch a bit. Oil on the clutch plate I think but probably exaggerated by perishing engine mount bushes on mine. I'm learning to live with it :)

thanks guys, yes could well be oil on the clutch plate didnt think of that, it definatley feels mechanical though, yes 2nd is slightly easier and reverse is hideous,

i currently feel violated when its shuddering when moving it around as ive got no seats sat on the fuel tank definatley emphasises the problem
