Hi there

I have just purchased a 1966 series 2a pretty good condition.. except a few easy jobs to do..!!
But just going to change the rims & tyres & I have one rim with what I think are original wheel nuts @ 27 mm & the other three are smaller probably 24 mm … !!

Any ideas as to what’s going on …?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Check the inside diameters - if they are the same then just means someone has replaced a few with smaller nuts and no big deal, just stick a full set of proper ones on. If they are different then someone’s messed with the retaining bolts which will mean the whole wheel unit needs a good look at.

Early wheel studs are screw in rather than hammer in, the nut size on the early ones is 15/16 which is roughly 24 mm
The problem with the early studs is they tend to come out of the hub itself so the fix is to drill the hole out and fit the same diameter studs but take the same size nut but they are hammer in studs so do not fall out like the early ones
Later hubs had the larger nuts
So you might just have a later hub fittef
