Hello Every one loving all your posts
I have a problem that the red gear keeps popping out when in 2 wheel drive. I can only now safely drive in 4wheel drive. I have replacedthe engine with a 2.5 litre diesel na military this is a 1969 dormobile

Sounds like either a problem in the transfer box or with the linkage. Remove the transmission tunnel and have a look to see if there is a problem with the linkage. I'm not sure how much you will be able to see from the top.

Just to clarify, when the yellow lever is in the up position, it's in 2 wheel drive, down for 4 WD. The red (hi/low) lever actually has three position, the middle position is neutral. If it goes into neutral you lose drive, all the way back towards the seats is low.

Good to clarify the red 1 appears To go in to neutral with a bit of a bang I then push the clutch in and push the red gear back and hold it there but if I let go it tends to pop out again. Il start on removing the tunnel thanks for your advice

You are only supposed to move the red lever when the vehicle is stationary, so if it pops out of hi, you need to stop before re-engaging it

Hello Col
Checked the plunger and spring all OK goes into the indent on the selector shaft.
Removed the lever to find missing rattle spring. What's your opinion on the condition of the ball
I'm hoping it's gonna be an 18 pence fix :)

All fixed now put the spring in. I'll post in the correct place now sorry I've realised I'm not posting in the correct plae
