Is'nt it amazing how you think you know something for certain for sure, then someone casts doubts so you research it and end up in total confusion.
Simple 10" leading shoe brakes, this is how I believe it should be.-

Leading shoe to the front (backplates mounted with snail adjuster forward) shoe identified by the adjuster pin.

Slave cylinder at the top, brake pipe port to the rear so that the flexi forms a C shape to the bracket above.

Bottom spring across the fitting holes in the shoes.

Top spring from groove in the leading shoe adjuster pin to pin on backplate. (not across shoes)

Top of the trailing shoe 'floats' and finds its own position close to the drum.

Banjo shoe retainer fitted on trailing shoe.

I will be re-assembling my hubs and brakes in the next few days, I'm confident that the above will work ok but I've been told that for the flexi's to take the right path the cylinder ports should face forward??? This would put the flexi's in an 'S' shape which makes no sense to me, when I researched it on the net I found diagrams/photos/descriptions with the setup as above, also with ports facing forward, one with the banjo on the leading shoe and a few with the cylinder and hence the backplate in positions other than vertical. I guess many variants will work but what is correct?
