Series 1 engine numbers

I have been looking into the serial numbers on my S1 but cant make sense of any of the data online. Does anyone know much about it on here?

There are several informative sources and there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on here . I only have info on Series II, IIa and III, plus a book on the military variants which does include S1, but I will help if I can.

Thanks everyone. I havent got a pic of the engine bay to hand but do know that the serial number is 67119322. Does this make sense to anyone?

Which model Series One is it ? Is it an ex-military one? I am by no means an expert but my first guess would be that it has a replacement engine , possibly a military one . Is it a 2ltr engine , or maybe a 2 1/4ltr .?

I would be very surprised if you did not get an answer on the Land Rover Series One Club Forum , so that ought to be your next port of call . There are not many Series One owners here , they are mostly modern Land Rover owners , and are as such pretty ignorant on the subject of proper Land Rovers !

Yup , about then, however special consideration might be given to those built between 1961 and 1971 .

if it is definitely a series 1 engine I would bet on it being a recon.

what engine number is on the v5c? that may still have the original engine number on it

I will find out more when I get hold of the V5 but that is all very helpful thank you. It would appear that it is probably a recon engine, not that that really worries me as it is the correct style of engine. I will also speak to the S1 owners club. Thanks all.
