so has anyone fitted sequential turbos to their tdi or summat.Im wondering if the tdi lag can be dealt with.What rpm does the turbo start at on 200tdi?

yu can on a V8 - by fitting two turbos - one to each bank - but modern thinking is, especially on a doozil - is to have one small one and one larger one - the larger one suffers the turbo lag, but the small one overcomes that inefficiency.

can hear mine spooling around 1800rpm notice power increase at 2000rpm

right so a small turbo for 1100rpm - 2500rpm then a bigger one.
So would a super charger work in elimanating lag?

in theory yes cos its driven constantly through the rev range mechanically instead of relying on exhaust gas pressure

VW know all about it with their STI which is essentially a small TFSI engine (1.4 i think) with a supercharger - apparently it's all or nothing, but when it gives it's all it leaves yer wig behind and stretches yer face into a grimace!!!

never seen a landy diesel done. A lot of 2 stroke diesels from the 50's and 60's were supercharged such as commer, foden and turner. And the last supercharged diesel I saw was the gate guardian at work Mk10 Chieftain tank fitted with a Leyland L60 when they had it fired up for its annual trundle around the yard and point the gun at someone elses house lol.

well looking about it seems Shorrock supercharged an old series.The 200tdi dont look that far removed from the 2.5and 2/14.its just another block with **** loads of stuff bolted on to it.
the kits seem ok but i noticed that there was some jap supercharged doisels in the 90S.so will have a dig round the mazda stuff.

youll reduce the turbo lag by fitting freeer flowing intake and zorst - i have a decat exhaust, no EGR (i have a 300) and a shorter air intake with a K&N. you can here the turbo start to spin at barely above tickover, and at medium revs, stamp on it and it spools up almost instantly. Lower revs it picks up fairly soon an all.
The 200 & 300 are the same block externally as the 2.5's, heads and minor internals are different.
That said, there must be a reason why most diesels are turbo'd not super'd. A supercharger uses a lot of horses jus to be spun fast enough, so you'd need a big-un to get much significant gain.

think they use turbo's mainly over superchargers for cost purposes more than anything else since theres a lot more to a supercharger than a turbo. Hence why superchargers turn up on your up market sheds like mercedes, bmw, range rover and the likes

Due to the age of me wagon ive no catalyist.So a good freeflowing system on the 200 will help no end then.Most of this is planned or in place.I was hopeing to reduce the lag as when i pull away with trailer of stone/logs it would be nice not to burn the clutch or go into low box.
The old 110 was ok but did pull out VERY slow and a few peeps had close encounters with the chipper and trailer.
Can i diddle with the mechanics that govern the turbo to help it spool earlier?

Have a look at http://www.stonefisk.com/doc-arc/def_man/ThermoGuard_Tdi_Tuning_Rev.2.pdf some of the stuff in there will make a definite difference, espeshully to the throttle response at low revs.

I need the top speed of D1 transfer box as i cover from bodmin to lands end so its quite a jank to work some days.I do enjoy distressin emmetts on A30 at 90mph....
My mate has geared down defenders for yankin mobile homes about off lorrys.quite succesfull but top speed is loud.
