Sender unit keeps leaking!

Help, I'm going round in circles the sender keeps leaking and I have bought a new sender, now O-Ring and new retaining ring nd it just keeps wheeping. Is there a knack or is there some sealant I could use?
Could I knock over the flanges on the tank to tighten things up?
Any help much appreciated.

Did you use the special tool to tighten it or like i did, use whatever tool i had that would go around the retaining ring. Only asking because im yet to try mine.

I covered it in vasaline and then carefully used drift and hammer
I have tried several times but when I fill it up its just keeps seeping out.
