Hi peaple

I have an odd thing going on with my rr diesel
Now and again when i start the car select neutral comes up on dash so i select neutral but nothing happens also ive noticed the indicator noise has disappeared but idicators still work, when i go back to car next day theres no select neutral on dash and indicator noise is back oh and by the way rr drives fine with select neutral on dash any help would be greatfull thanks.

Not sure about the boing noise, but I would suggest looking at the transfer motor or the transfer box ECU - get it on Diagnostic and see if any codes are logged...

The Select Neutral message is there to tell you that you have selected a drive gear while the transfer box is trying to change ratios....

My guess is a dodgy Transfer Box ECU - but JamesMartin is your man on the Auto's....I assume it is and Auto??

Thanks saint.v8 and datatek i will look into both of these fixes however this morning after arriving at work i left the indicator on" still no boinging" put auto shift in between low and high 10 seconds later indicator starts boinging and green lights on selector stopped flashing select neutral went off everything back to normal till the next time i suppose,so will look into things as you suggest thanks very much

If it actually selected Low Range, that eliminates the motor. Could be the connectors underneath or the micro switches on the gear shift that operate low range selection, battery voltage would be my first bet though and while you are at it, check the under bonnet fuse box for signs and smells of burning.

Thanks again datatek i have fitted a new battery, alternator is my next mission will have a look at connectors and micro switches, ive looked into fuse box cant see anything out of the ordinary am a bit frightend to pull anything out in case i need to have something reset or immobaliser goes wrong ect if it does smell of burning what is the procedure. Thanks again for info much appreciated:)
