Whats the state of yer Battery ??? ... (No it aint a daft question!!) The VERY FIRST thing that pops up on a P38 with a "Failing" Battery is a whole raft of ODD gearbox messages ...

Before you start rippin things apart just get yer Battery tested (Both Static & Load) ..

Limit switches?
hi guys first ov all thanx for thr replies and all your help trying to help with this one
hi datatek could i ask limit switches are these on the hi lo motor ? if they are iv`e checked those new update if i put fuse 11 in i get transfer neutral sport manual mode lights up sport turn my headlight on it goes off and i cannot get in back on till i turn off the headlights also when i take the key out it leaves my red dot on my gear shift very dully light as soon as i hit the mode button it goesa out if i press it again it shows back up dull iv`e changed the selector and still the same  its as if theres a short :doh:any ideas guys could the xy selector on the gearbox cause me these issues is the xy selector linked up to my hi lo range in any way cheers

You would need to look at RAVE for that, but I would have thought the XY selector indicates neutral which is needed for the transfer box to operate. I'm sure someone who knows will correct that if I'm wrong.

The glowing red led is normal and its the same on every P38A auto. It's a small back feed from the becm and is a very useful diagnostic tool as it only glows like this while the becm is in its awake mode. If u ever have a flat battery issue, u can check this lamp to see if the becm is going to sleep. Ref x,y&z switches, check these by whatching the PRND display on the Ipack, this info comes from the XYZ switches via becm. If the becm sees an illegal combination of the 3 signals, it will then inhibit PRND info being displayed on the Ipack. The becm sends a gnd signal to pin 34 on the t box ecu connector when vehicle is in neutral. Check this signal if you can. If you have an old ecu fitted, then some one has been playing around with the electrics in this area, so suspect damaged terminals especially on the ecu connector. Only way to check properly for openned up terminals is to probe with a corresponding male terminal.
