Evening,

Been looking at other security devices on the market,

Already got Skytag and a fairly basic pedal lock from Paddock Spares,

Been thinking of having a new ignition and new door locks but seeing as I only have 1 electronic key fob (#### knows where the other is) it seems somewhat pointless,

Bearing in mind its a 1997 90sw its not going to be hard to get into it anyway,

Ideas what I should get on it next ?

Should note I'm aware the idea is to slow them down and deter them rather than stop them all together.

Disklock
Clutch claw
Battery cut off
Removable steering wheel
Tracker
Fuel cut off
Immobilizer
Grizzly bear in the back
Gear stick lock

"Mech lock" I'm not sure if you can still get these but basically it was a valve that was connected to you clutch fluid line and when engaged it would lock it in neutral.

My mate has a brake lock on his Rangie. Stamp on the brake pedal, operate the lock, release the brake pedal and bingo all four wheels locked solid. Not sure how legal it is but it will stop anyone driving it away or towing it. He designed it himself so not sure how it fits or where but I think its in the hydraulics rather than mechanical. I'll have a good look next time he's over.

My mates broke into my SW in 2 minutes and rolled it down a car park to scare me once so it doesn't take much doing to get through the windows so some mesh guards or similar would be worth while, but a sure fire way to stop them nicking it is get a concrete pad installed on your drive with a massive chain attached to it then attach that through the axles or chassis that would slow them down abit ;)

Other than that all the other things sugested

I managed to lock my keys in mine, I was surprised/shocked how easy it was to break in.

Suffice to say, I wouldn't rely on keeping people out. Best defense is to stop them being able to do anything once they're inside!

I'm in the process of writing a tutorial about adding electric windows, central locking and a full closure alarm system to a defender. The optional bits at the end include a electrically operated fuel cutoff solenoid. The big issue is that with a couple of lengths of wire you can undo a weeks worth of alarm installation so even though I'm an electrical/electronics person I still say physical deterrents are best......

I use a disklok. I'm adding a pedal plate and solenoid activated dead locks - it's all about making it harder. Oh and a solenoid activate fuel filler cover like most later cars have (although I'm still looking for donor parts for this bit at the moment).

Will post my findings when I have some :D

I wonder if it's possible to have a members only area for discussions such as that. Anything that's publicly viewable, Google will record and make searchable. Therefore searchable by potential thieves...

there are always plenty of guests viewing.... maybe it should be set to the unregistereds can only read the welcome forum lol

Also lots of people have gps location turned on when they take photos with their phones/iphones. Its pretty easy to get the location of all our vehicles!
