Hi,

I recently had to buy a secondhand Instrument cluster for my 2001 Disco after someone had destroyed the LED's for the three amigo's. After a new ABS pump, and rear ABS sensor and the second hand Cluster I have now have flashing mileage which is 80,000 and not the 131,000 which I originaly had. The garage was unsure how to change this.

Does anyone know where I can take my disco and get this sorted? I did think id trying to solder on the LEDS which had been broken off my oringal unit and putting it back, but A, don't know how to take it out and B will I get the mileage issue again?

Any help would be appreciated,

The mileage is stored in the ecu and not the speedo. This is supposed to stop peeps from Clocking their motors. Think you'll need a pooter with the proper software to change the mileage on the cluster to match the one in the ecu. (I think that's how it works anyhow??)

Ahh, makes sense I guess. Is there anywhere specific I can get this done that anyone knows about? I have read a few threads where people have swapped there cluster out a few time. I assume they have to correct their mileage everytime?

Why? The mileage is an indicator only. I would take a note of the date and take a pic of the new mileage. Then, your next MOT will show the new mileage. It is not a legal requirement that mileages are consistent. It's only to raise questions for a buyer.

EG, my truc had about 103,000 on the clock, I did a total rebuiild and put a NOS speedo head that showed 3 miles, but it had a replacement engine with approx 150K on it.

So what?

you can stop the milage flashing with a hawkeye but to re adjust the milage to the correct you need to see a main stealer or somone with main dealer diagnostics

Thanks for the info. I feel a Trip to Land Rover coming on. But from what I have read there is no rush to do it as the ECU keeps a track of the mileage anyway :)

or independant lr garage with the use of an autologic diagnostic be alot cheaper;)

and yes as long as the flashing dont drive you nuts the ecu keeps the mileage:D
