Seat subframe runner replacement

While driving, I wondered why my 90 felt a bit more wild than usual, turned out only half of my seat is attached!



They seem to sell the lower assembly for or £100 new! Any ideas if you can buy just the lower runner? Or is it a whole new seat assembly, if so, anyone selling near Portsmouth?

surely they are repairable?

I got mine welded but mine was nearer the hole. Having said that it has help up well. I've seen a few like this and some have got away with putting a big washer on the bolt for added strength

This^^^^^^^^^ all day long.
Spend another 50 quid and buy yourself a decent welder instead of the seat rail, then you can weld the other five when they break as well.

Well. I do have a decent welder so may give it a try but my local breaker had two really good condition complete seats in. Since my foam squabs were disintegrating I thought I'd just by a pair of new seats instead.

Probably because there's barely any foam left in the seat to absorb my weight contributed to the failure. 😁

How much is he wanting for the seats? as the parts ( foam and covers) aren't massively expensive if you shop around compared to the price some breaker charge for " part worn seats" and if you paint the frames as well you would have close to new seats.

I got the pair for £150 - not cheaper than If i retrimmed them myself (£65 x 2 from paddocks), but less hassle. It also transpires that the driver seat was sheared at the rear too. I discovered this when I took them out over the weekend.

I do wonder how long I was driving with only half a seat attached.

Plus my new (secondhand) seats are heated! Treat myself!
