Well, got a problem.

One of my headlights has not sealed properly, and has started to get some condensation in it.

No great problem, just have to take it off, dry and re-seal, as there must be a gap somewhere in the seal......thought I might of got away with just using the original seal on the light by re-heating.....guess not

So my question is, is there a better type of silicone sealer to use than others, as dont fancy having to keep taking apart the headlight to seal, as this is the only time I really want to have to do it, so will be sealing it up for good.

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Condensation in 300tdi headlights is a common problem, mines done it for years. It just comes and goes depending on atmospheric conditions.
Never been a problem though.
Tbh sealing the unit is probably the worst thing you can do, it's not a sealed unit in the first place.
If I'm not mistaken the later disco lights have a drilled hole in the reflectors, covered with a gortex patch to allow any condensation that may form to evaporate away without letting water in.
Thought about copying this idea but never got round to it.

Sorry, no its not in the normal 300 tdi lights, as I modified and put on the facelift TD5 lights, with LED's inside, so I haven't got a good tight seal around the edges when I put it back together - shouldn't have used the same sealant in hindsight

never thought of that - just been out and got some roofing sealand, as its seem nice and waterproof, flexible, and black, so will see how that works.

If not, will try my local fish shop (not the version that sells chips - although if it goes badly, might need comfort food :D)
