Hi i got my FL2 sd4 delivered today and i have a bit of a blonde question. On the obc when checking MPG it gives a AVG MPG it also gives INST MPG what does INST MPG mean please ??

Just local, nipped to Asda last night just on the A roads, drove it sensibly & the “Instant Fuel” reading hovered around 40mpg when it was in top gear :)

If yer want to know what it will do at each speed... get to that speed, trunk on cruise control, reset the trip, continue for about a mile and the average mpg will then update. This is far more precise than the instantaneous reading. You will find better mpg at 60mph than 70mph as an eggsample. Don't ferget to watch where yer going.

You can get readings like this with the ingenum engine and nine speeder, and that’s average, not instant !

The Ingenium is a great engine - and you might get an average 60+ on some journeys, but I don't think you can really expect average MPGs of 60+ in any cars that it will go into.

That was my brother's Jag XE 2.0D R-Sport. But the Equa index shows 42mpg for this car.

Here’s an sd4 with six speed box on a comparable journey to my earlier post, when tank gets down to halfway you can take about 15 mpg from that figure, it’s just not sustainable in everyday driving
