hi folks, I have this noise that has developed recently that is coming from under the seat box, which is louder and clearer when the centre inspection plate is removed. The noise happens every half of a rotation (a bit like a disk being warped) but im sure it not the brakes. The noise/friction also seems to be putting stress on the engine at low speeds as its making the engine work hard intermitantly (half rotation). Its a 300tdi 90 that hasnt had a good run in a couple of months.

Anybody got any ideas?? as ive done a search and found nothing.

All of the above , could be rust build up and one sticking shoe and expander .

Does the drum get warm/hot on a short run ?

Or

Any oil in the tranny box ?

Siezed UJ ?
