Two post lifts are not recommended for the P38 as they hang the suspension.
If the shocks are in good order hanging the suspension should do no harm, the suspension will move no further than it would when fully articulated, go for 4 new tyres and that's exactly what the tyre place will do

Back in the 70's I lifted a Jag (XJ6 if I remember correctly) on a two post lift and the entire rear subframe fell out
Scissor lifts don't do anything for me, other than make me wonder just what is going to get cut in half if they fail. We had a ramp when i was serving my time with just eighteen inch hydraulic ram in the middle of it you could spin the bloody car round on it if you had any tugging to do. Never gave it thought at the time, but have often wondered since if you could have gotten out in time if the seals had gone. Makes me shiver to think about it. Give me a four poster with an axle beam any day of the week. Any bag will pull off if the cars on the bump stops, there is no air in it, and the pipes are connected. Vacuum is a powerful force.
That's amazing, the very first garage I worked for (served my time) had one of those, two big gate valves controlled up and down using compressed air, this one leaked and we always kept water in the seal well cos when the bubbling slowed right down we topped it up with air.
my dad had 1 of those single post lifts in his garage for years! ran on air as you say, 2 valves, and a big hole in the floor i used to throw waste oil down to keep it lubed up. a real pig when the air comes out the locks dont release straight away. car used to fall 4 foot before the pressure caught it

i dont and would never lift a 38 or any other vehicle with eas on a 2 post infact i dont own a 2 post at all i personally dont like or trust them, ill stick with my trusty 4 poster as i use it for 4 wheel tracking aswellYeh I've read that, but all the tyre places do it.

Lifts have a lot of safety catches built into them, but ultimately how safe they are depends how well serviced they are and how well you seat the vehicle. Just YouTube "car lift fall" and you'll be present by hours of footage of what can go wrong with a chimp at the helm.
