And the bar where I saw that one a large glass of white wine and a bottle of beer a wallet busting....1.70€...

Have a look on OLX. pt...some of the prices are eye watering.
the prices are high but they are not the same animal, a 2000 td5 has got no more than 5 years left in it in the UK unless it has being really looked after on the underside, or you are happy to spend big money on it, a 2000 td5 there will last as long as you can get the bits to keep it running, but bring it to the UK or anywhere where they salt the roads it will soon rust away

The prices are high for every used car here... I've got a 2000 yr Fiat seciento peeling clear coat front seats knackerd we use it as a pool car between mates worth around 750€ in the UK probably 100 quid...

The thing is though prices are high yes... minimum wage here is 520€ a month... fuel tanker drivers have been on strike to get a minimum wage of 900€ a month ...when I first came here many years ago you could get 120 months finance on a used car... guess where the money came from...no driving licence get a grant for a tractor... guess where the money came from...

Same in France, I saw a disco 2 like mine for €6500, and was told it was a reasonable price, hence the local Landy guy, a dutch bloke, suggested doing business with me if I brought knackered old Discos back with me. Anything with an MOT he was interested in. He has an absolute mountain of spare parts, especially body panels.

I have never come across a French person living in France who drives a RHD they like the price but would not buy one

Should have made clear when I said "like Mine" it was like mine except LHD. Even so, the guy wants to buy Brit ones so I have to assume it is for the parts, as much as anything else.
That would make scene, mine is a 2000 td5 lhd but is used for work so has had a hard life but has no rust, I plan to buy a rusty UK one to use for parts

My time in Portugal is the only time in the past 15 years or so that i have been without a Land Rover, Land Rovers (and car/motorbike prices in general) in Portugal are ridiculous, I didn't see any Land Rovers under 5k when I lived there and importing a vehicle is such an expensive faff that it's not worth it either. I did see a few very suspect ads for RHD P38s when I was there, still expensive but usually with no log book.

Portugal is great if you are buying coffee, wine or beer but buying a car there? forget it.

It would be possible to put a rusty one on a trailer and import it just as "spares" then it could sit on your land. It is only if you want to drive it over here it's anything like a problem. Unfortunately I don't have a car trailer I have no use for otherwise, on one of our trips over, we could come to some arrangement! You do see LHD crashed or otherwise knackered ones up for sale in France, but they are pretty rare, hence my Dutch mates request!
