after being off the road for some time took my 98 4.6 for a not but due to a SAS fault airbag fault on the message centre it failed. is it possible to disable this message anyway while I get it fixed?

I guess you mean SRS before the flash bangs come through the windows and you are slotted

Nope...get it on diagnostics and find the fault, then repair!

Probably caused by low battery voltage when it was not being used.
