Hi Folks,
I'm in trouble, I cannot source thrust bearings for a Salibury axle shown in image. The axle is a Salisbury type with a code C8DR-004-3AE on it. I googled that but got no valid return, it may be a serial number only. A

There are 4 bearings that are placed between each of 4 gears & the casing on the outside. The bearing itself looks like a plain thrust bearing but it has lots of small needle rollers placed on bearing face in a circular array.

My usual bearing shop cannot source & does anyone know where they can be got ?

Would appreciate any help or advice.

They're Salisbury's alright but you are looking in the wrong place for a type, check the drive flanges for type, could be 5 or maybe a 7 series, I think 7 series as they look huge, it will be 7## #=two letters usually on them big axles.

Are they off a Winget or a Barford piece of plant by any chance?

You are spot on, almost, the axle is from a Thwaites 4WD dumper, would you know where I can get bearings for it ?

Your front axle there, I presume its running those short shaft spiders as revers drives in the hubs?
Yes dieseldog, its a front axle, not sure of the exact functions of the short shaft gears, looked on that site you mentioned, didn't see the bearing. I'll try FAG or some one like that.

This is what bearing looks like.

You should ideally call them and speak to them about the bearings, by the sounds of it your axles are rather old and these will be a specialist part or old stock.

Can you post some more pictures of those front hubs please, I am very curious about them as I've never had a set apart but have seen them a few times on 70s and 80s era plant.
