sailsbury axle to 90 bad vibes

just fitted my fully re-coned sailsbury rear axle from a 110 , to my 90 today
was warned it may cause problems , and it is
the problem i have is a nasty vibration from around 15 mph and seems to clear around 30 , mph
my 90 was fine before i fitted this axle , was told it would propley do this cause , prop is running at steeper angle . now i need to either need to twist axle , or lower gear box any one had this problem and how do i over come it .

The diff pinion in the Sailsbury axle is longer than the Rover one and will cause steeper UJ angles in the prop shaft.

Lowering the gearbox is possible but think about the effect of the other prop shaft (and other components) Also to 'twist axle' would require a complete strip of the axle and a jig to make sure all was in the right place......and do you know how much to twist the axle by?

I think the easiest option for you would be to try a high angle prop shaft. Call the Propshaft Clinic in Bradford (pop that into Google ) and have a talk to them.

Don't really see the need. Yes I agree that the angle will change and that it will be running at a steeper angle but........I have been in loads of 80 inch trialers and 86 inch hybrid comp safari racers with no problems even down the motorway I think you should look at the condition of propshafts and other components first etc. Remember land rover made a true 90 inch wheelbase and sold them to the military abroad which was 2.7 or 2.9 inches shorter than our 90's and they had no problems with noise/vibes at speed only articulation when using standard Land Rover fitment UJ's Jai

Hi mate im the lad that sold it you,just check on the prop that the 2 tippex marks line up where the sliding joint is i mite of not put it back together rite afta greasing it.it mite be a couple of splines out cheers

yea if the splines are out of phase it will vibrate loads and mabe damage your transfer box bearings after a long while Jai
