Hi, my rear step is permenantly in the "down" position and I need a new "hydrolic/gas thingy" to repair it. As I dont know the actual name for the part im after im finding it hard to do a search for one, can anyone please tell me what the part im after is actually called and /or more importantly where to get a replacement? cheers :).

Wawaweewa:eek:! theyre quite pricey, I was expecting about 20 squids, Has anyone on this forum got a spare one they would be willing to swop for beer tokens? pretty please:) doesnt matter if its 2nd hand just as long as it works.

If not do you think its worth getting one from a breakers? Or even would a damper from a disco2 step fit I found one on ebay for half the price:

LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 REAR RETRACTABLE STEP DAMPER on eBay (end time 20-Jan-11 15:27:58 GMT)

If anyone has removed the whole step I may be willing to buy the whole thing as my step is looking a bit tatty. Cheers:).

EXACTLY what I just told the Mrs over dinner, What a great bunch on here, Thats Landrover drivers for you:)

PS: It would of actually been sorted a lot sooner but I was fannying around.

Hi, I am also looking for one of these for my Discvery Series 2. Does anyone has an old one that still works?

I have been thinking of replacing mine as it failed a few months ago, been looking for a cheap one.

The part for the D2 is KVL100040 and the cheapest I found a new one for was £28.85 from shardlow4x4parts although that might have changed now with vat going up.

Going to keep looking....

Regards

Ben
