The headlinning on the roof of my 2000 P38 is starting to sag in a couple of places, Does anyone know of a simple method to reattach or glue without removing the whole thing and re gluing?

Thanks

Sorry, I just found this subject has been covered before, look like I ghot to replace the whole tghing, I guess I;ll live with it as it's only a couple of places, very minor.

I redid mine last summer. If you get an extra set of hands it should only take you about 2-3 hours from start to finish.

How easy is the removal of the existing one without causing any more damage, do the clips come out cleanly? is there a right or wrong place to start?

Ok Checked that out, I think that would be a bit more than I could manage myself.

Is it not possible to heat the (small) sags up and melt the glue to re attach say with a heat gun, anyone tried this?
It's the foam backing that disintegrates that causes the problem not the glue. I've tried heat on it without success.:(

The headlining was sagging in my P38, so back in August I thought I'd do something about it as a temporary fix. Next year I'm planning to get a new headlining.

Anyway, to do what I did below you need a staple gun, some small round velcro patches (sold in Halfords) and some grey plastic trim clips (ebay).

1) Cut off the plastic lug from the back of each of the clips so they are more of a round disc.
2) Stick one half of the velcro strip on the back
3) Staple up the other half of the velcro patch using the staple gun into the headlining where required.

As the clips are held on with velcro, you can remove them and re-staple if needed.

I've attached a pic. Hope it helps.

You can do a temp fix with a sharp blade and some 3m spray adhesive. Sinks in and stabilises the foam that usually disintegrates. Not super pretty but will stop it dropping over yer eyes while driving!

This would work for me, I can get my head round that, though mine's no where near as bad as that. it's drooping just at the rear pillers, but I'm fitting dog guard brackets there next week so that mat orevent it going any further, I don't have a sunroof but where it would be there is a 2" round area starting to come away.

Maybe I should live with it until it get worth.

Thanks for eveyone chiping in with suggestons:)

I found the problem is worse if you get a lot of moisture inside your vehicle. I had a period over the colder days when I kept coming to my RR to find the inside of the windows had frozen up. All that extra liquid caused my head lining to start drooping. Up to that point it was super tight. I've dried out the insides of my vehicle and touch wood it has slowed the degradation.

Once it starts going, its a slippery slope I'm afraid, this time next year it will be a lot worse, I have seen it on a lot of roofs, just a little to start with and then its sagging like my old granny's tits
