my p38's headlining has started to sag(dont they all!!) but i think its not your usual problem of just the cloth coming away from the backing board, it feels like the whole lot is sagging! obviously without taking it out i cant be 100%, but it feels very thick just to be the cloth, any ideas!!!??? any help would be appreciated.

doesnt sound like your that confident about it!!!! have seen on rimmer brothers they sell new ones but at £250 was seeing if anyone had any other ideas.

The backing on P38 head lining is possible to recover unlike classic head lining - once it goes it's a bin job
Whip the whole headling out and remove the old cloth and foam backing (that's what makes it feel thick )
You will then have to VERY carefully remove all traces of the old adhesive to have any success
You will then have to buy proper foam backed headlining cloth and the correct 3M or equivalent adhesive and carefully cut, trim and glue the new headlining
TBH it's a lot of hassle, for £250 I would just buy a new one
I have fitted a one piece fibreglass lining to a classic before but not a P38, guess the procedure would be much the same
It's fiddly, but do-able and definately a two man job getting the new one in
Wear gloves to stop leaving grubby prints on the new cloth - ask me how I know !

thanks V8kenny, ive heard of the fibre glass ones for the classics and wondered if they did them for the p38, obviously not!!! I think ill go down the new route when i get some dollar together, im sure it can wait till ive got about 2inches of view left through the windscreen!
