safest way of jacking up a defender?

hi guys. seen various ways of doing it but its all dependant on what kind of sills etc you've got. i dont have sills but the defender came with one of those hi-lift jacks, which im not too keen on using. i guess im looking at a trolley jack, but whereabouts are the jacking points??:)
 
bottle jacks with a curved head under the axles, and a axle stand - the standard depender jack is deadly

merc sprinter jacks are ideal
 
I carry a trolloy jack with me behind the seats - the standard halfords 2tonne one fits nicely behind the drivers seat - as long as like me - you don't have long legs.

But either way - id put in on the chassis or an axel if i were you, or even the front bumper was used one - not very safe mind you

rear x member
front bumper,
awt else structural,
sump at a push

just once its up stick some stands under it, or a lump of tree trunk, at a push a few old wheels, dont work on it wth only a jack , they do tend to tip, as fer a high lift, save it fer emergencys or fencing jobs ;)
 
Ai Disco bottle jacks are good :)

I Had my series on stands on the front bumper when I was doing my spring change, Didnt like that 1 bit. It often moved and took me a good 30minutes to initially set it up in a way I was happy(ish) with.

changed a wheel bearing in a field in Wales once with only a Hi-Lift :( not proud of it, but It did the job!

6am this morning (in the snow) i had a flat tyre and used the jack that came with the defender from new and i didn't like it one bit it just did'nt feel safe so i am gonna invest in the one that MrJC as just stated - thanks for info but i am still chuffed with myself as i changed it on my own though it took me twice as long as it would of taken you guys lol
