S3/Defender question.

I have searched the forum but haven't found an answer to this one. Is the lower dash panel (the bit with the heater duct and control flaps) on a Defender similar enough to a series 3 to fit? Some of the parts suppliers imply that it will but I want to know if anyone has actually done this. They're bloody expensive new (one place quotes nearly £800!) so I want one from a scrappy and a Defender one would be newer and probably easier to find.
Mine has thoughtfully recycled it's steel components all by itself.

No. It's a '73 and it's been leaking for a long, long time. Half of it crumbled to dust when I took it off!
