Possibly the most annoying trait of these gearboxes is the indent springs on 3/4 synchro that break in half and can then be found in sump when the gear oil is drained. I recently fitted a replacement albeit second hand untested gearbox during August and have been singing its praises until this Tuesday that is when suddenly without warning the third gear refused to engage and eventually the gear stick got stuck in fourth after I lost patience with it. Removing the floor plates, turrett and top gearbox cover revealed two completly broke indent springs with the third bent beyond recognition and jammed in the synchro. The gear shift now works ok but I am expecting other problems will now exist with changing gear
Is it possible to replace these springs without removing the gear box ?
