Hi after replacing my inner arches on my every day disco and needing to do the same on my project one im thinking of how to preserve them better.

Problem I see is the arch gets all the mud and road salt - has anyone tried coating the arch in fibreglass? im thinking that would provide a tough coating to stop mud etc and even stone chips? I work offshore and notice alot of the structure steel is all coated to stop corrosion so thats where I came up with the idea? Thoughts?

Unless you seal the edges 100% the water will find its way between. your best bet is to get the surface as clean, dry and free from any loose material and use underseal. use a heatgun on a low setting to make it easy to brush on.

Just paint then waxoyl them each autumn. They will last ages, your disco is at least 15 yrs old and quality inner wings will out last the car now.

All true just km starting a rebuild and looking to hit the problem areas. Love the galvy dip idea im getting the chassis dipped and thinking what else I can get done. I even asked if tbey could dip the bottom half of the disco but the bath is not wide enough worth a try.

If you find someone with a wide enough bath let me know. I'm goin to get them to dip my entire Disco 2....:p

Ha ha apparently there is only one bath in the uk that would be big enough but the guy said some of the body metay may warp with heat. Plus remove doors etc for the aluminium bits. Nice idea though
