Hi

I'm a new born Defender owner (in Denmark), pretty happy, working with the challenges

Bulkhead is rusted RH side, from approx upper doorhinge, and a little below where the bulkhead/A bar arches out. Also pretty bad where the door seal is sitting. What do I do, is it fixable. New bulkhead?

Tks
Thomas

Hej Thomas..den ser ikke sa slemt ud, bare behandle omradet med en af de mange produkter imod rust, male det og sa burde det ikke blive vaerre.

Hvor bor du? En hils fra Slagelse!
I dont speak danish but i should think he said to wire brush it and paint it with kurust:D

there are repair kits for the bulkhead but you might find that it is worse inside than out and in some cases would be easier to replace it all.

these are similar to what i used but you dont need the foot bracket:

LAND ROVER DEFENDER R/H DOOR PILLAR AND BRACKET on eBay (end time 11-Nov-10 16:24:33 GMT)
Thats quite right too.In july i started to pick at afew rust spots on my door pillar i was thinking rub down and paint.Lol!!In the end had to remove wing and dash, repair bulkhead,w ld in pillar and reassemble.Well worth it tho:)OPs rust is high in the pillar tho not at the base where its often full of water andrust:(

yeah saw that in the pics but like you say the rust will have gone somewhere and i couldnt find any cappings with the curved section when i was looking unless you bought the full side.

the tops under the windscreen on mine are pretty perished too but a bit of plate will sort that out.

The full pillar makes a great job and when it was done i filled it with waxoyl.Thin under my screen too:doh:Thomas whatever you do mate fill the pillar with waxoyl after as its bare mild steel inside as standard:(.Theres loads of holes if you remove the trims and door
