As for running on red. Plod and customs were sat on main road a mile away from the farm, watched the boss fill up his Hilux with diesel, watched him drive down the lane and clobbered him. Or so they thought. He pulled out proof that hilux was reg as an agri vehicle and that he was on his way to another farm he owned.

Plod weren't happy, you'd think they would do their homework before settin out to do summat like that.

It was in the news up here, woman got 500 litres of central heating oil delivered just before Christmas (bear in mind their was a shortage up here). She woke up next morning and couldn't understand why the heating wasn't working. Went out side to find the two padlocks she had on her tank lying on the ground. Tank empty. Whoever took it also filled up their 4x4 as well as they left their fuel filler cap behind in their haste.

Poor woman had no way of heating or cooking over christmas. :(

In England the limit is within 1mile of the farm so if he owned a 2nd farm he wouldn't be allowed to drive to it using Red Diesel

Literally was just out the end of the lane, 200 yds down the road and a left turn onto land he owned.

The main farm had lots of escape routes out of it and he could pretty much get to all his land legally depending which lane out of the place he took.

There was only two exceptions and it didn't really bother him. The Hilux was a ****ter and he had two of them so he wasn't bothered about loosing it.

He owned several farms, when I say farms they were farms when he bought them then he sold the house and the sheds and kept the land. Only two out of the 6 'farms' he owned he kept the sheds for storage.

I always thought it was 7 mile radius of the farm.

I always thought it was 3:confused:

Probably changed since I worked on the farm.

Not that it worried me, I hardly got to drive the Hilux on the road anyway. My job was in the tractor seat and in bad weather or occasions where I was working in the land next to me mums house, or taking sheep there the last load would always be timed so I got the tractor home for the night and back again in the morning thus saving me petrol. :)

EDIT: I was always told it was 3 and reason I remember that is because boss said that was enough to get him to the local place to pick up sheep dip/wormer and other stuff etc etc. Wife wouldn't let him use the car for carrying crap in after he put a sheep in the boot one day.
