Running Costs of Defender

Well I'm thinking of spending around 6-7k but I've been trying to justify and convince myself a while about the tax but you know what - I don't think I can bring myself to spend 400-500 quid a year on tax!

What do you guys think of the heavy weight of road tax?

No worries re the road tax as you won't be paying anywhere near £400 unless it's registered after 23/03/06.
I think you will find that between 01 and 06 the tax is currently £210. If you're uncertain about the road tax cost then simply look in the window of a parked defender within the age related to your budget.
